Mausoleum type dungeon: eye of the north weasel dungeon
ok hi i am the animal fighter
with the recent activities with the halloween dungeoner called 'the Mausoleum' that dropped items that were not originally designed to be in the game, i have designed a new idea that hopefully guild wares will incorporate to bring back the fun of hunting items in the mausoleum.
this idea is called:
ok basically there will be a new dungeon in the eye of the north. it will be called the weasel dungeon. this dungeon will drop things such as uninscribable spears, scythes, and other weapons with skins that only drop inscribable versions (like da mausoleum, except no dumb extra modded stuff). also the quest reward is your choice of 20% against weasels damage mod for all weapons.
this would provide fun to da players who enjoyed farming da mausoleum because it made the game feel fresh with drops that werent predictable and were dropped everywhere, but not uninscribable forms. it would even drop really rare items like eternal blades in uninscribable forms but obviously they would be really rare.
this is a good idea to make the game fun again.
now with more incite about the dungeon (which will fit with gill war lore)
rurik's ghost will travel to the eye of the north once you complete the eye of the north main quest.
now when you talk to him inside the eye of the north he gives you a quest called "Tussel At Da Weasel Dungeon."
you tell rurik "what does that mean"
rurik says: "a new dungeon in the northern part of nornheart domains has been discovered and weasels are all over it and you have to save people who are somehow trapped in the last room and weasels are laying siege to them."
you say "im on it boss"
rurik, then, being the helpful guy he is puts a little green star thing on your map so you can find the dungeon.
just outside the dungeon there will be man waiting for you to arrive.
man will describe how he is the only one who made it out alive before the weasels completely surrounded the end of the cave and blocked it off from escape. he will also say it is urgent that you save the people in there since they're important to rurik or something.
but if you want to advance in the quest, no matter how urgent it is, he will have to tell you how they got into that situation in the first place.
he says they were hunting down some remaining destroyers who hid in nornhart domains when they found an uncharted cave:
suddenly a snow storm came upon them and they decided to take refuge in the cave.
all seemed safe inside the cave at first. but they later realized their mistake:
snow weasels were hiding in the snow above the cave.
once the weary fighters went into the cave and felt safe, the weasels decided to strike:
then man says to you "okay now go save the survivors, FOR ASCALON!!!!!!!!!" and you basically just charge right into the cave.
you will fight against weasels (some with the snow camouflage pattern and some with the forest camouflage pattern) for the next 7 rooms in the dungeon.
with thought of the sarcophagi in the mausoleum dungeon, weasels will have weasel holes:
you click on the hole:
and out pops a baby weasel (ready to fight), which will sometimes spawn a chest that will drop these rare items.
once you reach the last room before you rescue the survivors a huge amount of weasels will come at you, the battle will look much like this:
then you reach the last room and the survivors thank you and what-not and tell you to return to rurik and tell him the good news, and you can and the quest will be repeatable for ease of farming.
I believe this would bring much fun to guild wars and it is a good idea because many people enjoyed the mausoleums 'glitched' drops, not for their functionality, but rather for the excitement of seeing what you could get. this would bring some of that back into the game and as well as add the first fun and exciting dungeon to guild wor.
i hope you like my idea,
da animal fighta!

I'd like the ability to go hunt for inherent spears and scythes and such for sure! Hunting The Mausoleum for similar curious items was great fun while it lasted.
And the more slaying mods the better IMO, so I'm all for these weaselslaying mod rewards you mentioned.

My compliments on your excellent visual aids and my thanks, too, for the laughs!
They should put a collector in the last level of the dungeon who will exchange a large number of regular herring for herring daggers. I've wanted to dual-wield herring ever since the scavenger hunt arrived in game. (I hope it's ok that I suggest this here instead of starting a new thread. I'm still not sure of the thought process involved, but I remembered wanting those herring daggers while considering your proposal. Perhaps herrings make good weasel bait?)

First of all, it's the old fashioned system the one that is flawed and should be changed to inscriptions. During ALL the time I've been playing GW, I only got two useful items in Factions, and none in Prophecies. Not counting collector items, while more or less 5..10% of the items I get under the inscribed system are useful for me or my heroes. And I've spent A LOT of time in Factions, A LOT, more than I've spend in Nightfall and eye together.
That goes beyond chances. Even in games with heavy item-based mechanics like Diablo or Borderlands I got much more useful items much more often. Having such a flawed system is a vestigial relic with no place in GW1, much less since the addition of the new drop system and the PvP item creation panel.
GW2 will be a bit more gear-based, so those that want inherent properties other than the base ones of the weapon should go to GW2.
Second, although the Master of the North title is increased by points, so it doesn't matter which ones you make, as long as you make enough, and you can max the title without completing all dungeons, I don't think it would be a good idea to start adding more, like adding more missions to the campaigns. Turning into actual dungeons (giving the door and chest icons) places like Sorrow's Furnace, Deep, Urgoz, UW and Tombs would be nice, though.
I also wish they made something else with the Mausoleum. But not a dungeon in eye of the north that counts for the title.
And third, aren't there rules about joke threads in Sardelac?
Please don't tell me this isn't a joke...

only thing i can see flawed ( apart from spelling lol ) you say about gw lore .. well sadly rurik died before eotn was discovered - also knowing how rurik is .. he wouldnt give players the quest but insist on running in himself and dying.I think when most players find out for first time hes dead they are actually relieved as theres nothing worse than trying to protect a complete idiot who thinks he can take on the whole charr army ( nolani mission - speaks for itself ) ... on a side note is rurik and leeroy jenkins related in some way or was leeroy based on rurik ?
I agree with MithranArkanere about weapons , anet shud now set all weapons the same and allow full moding/insc as newish players i feel can get a hard time getting decent weapons and i always remember when i used to buy gold weapons having to ask if they are insc or not - just so i dont buy something that cannot be insc ( some players say it can knowing it cant ) and worse was having a gold shield drop in factions nm with bad stats but a -5 20% on it then realising its junk as i cant rip the insc and use on a better shield

Excellent visual aids, and of course I fully support the beating down of weasels.

I agree whole hartedly. But shouldnt the Topic read "Mouseoleum type dungeon: eye of the north weasel dungeon " to fit the general theme of the Thread?

Entertaining idea, dear chap, but I question how serious of an idea this can be. It gave me a decent laugh while I read it, at least.
